Machine Repairs & Service Information
River City Sewing Machine Centre is an Authorised Dealer and Service Centre for the following machine brands:
- PFAFF
- Husqvarna Viking
- Bernina
- Bernette
- Janome
- Brother
- Baby Lock
- Gammill
- Handi Quilter
- Singer
Pre-book your machine in for a routine service so that you can get on with your sewing while you are waiting for your service time slot. Get your machine back with a faster turnaround and get sewing again.
Please note that this pre-booking is not a same-day service.
If you have multiple machines you will need to select one “ticket” for each machine. There are limited tickets each day for these pre-bookings so select a day where you can book all of your machines in at the same time.
While we commence this new booking service, there will be a limit to how many machines are booked per day. This will be reviewed as we move forward with this new service.
What do you need to do to book:

There are limited spaces each day for overlockers/coverstitchers, sewing machines and embroidery machines. Please select the correct machine type when booking.

Note: The time on the booking page can read either 10am-11am or 10am -2pm. Please bring your machine in between 10am – 2pm on the day you have booked your machine in.
2. Confirm your selected machine appointment/s and provide us with your details, contact telephone number, email address, details of your machine/s and any issues that you may have that you would like to highlight to our technician.
3. Keep a copy of your email confirmation to bring with you on the day of your booking.
4. You will be sent an email confirmation and a reminder of your booking a day or so before your machine is due to be dropped off.
What happens on the booking day:
1. On the day that you have selected, bring your machine in for service with your email confirmation.
Note: The time on the booking page can read either 10am-11am or 10am -2pm. Please bring your machine in between 10am – 2pm on the day you have booked your machine in.
2. Please bring the following items for your machine:
Power Cord & Foot Control
Embroidery Unit – for Embroidery Machines
Bobbin filled with sewing thread +Bobbin filled with bobbinfil for Embroidery machines
Sewing Thread on the machine
Regular Sewing Foot + Embroidery Foot for Embroidery Machines
1 small Hoop for Embroidery machines
Please leave all other machine accessories at home as they are not required
3. Our team will book your machine into our repair system.
4. Once all items are booked in , you will be provided with a repair docket receipt detailing the items that you have included with your machine for service.
5. This repair docket receipt MUST be returned to us for processing when you collect your machine and pay for your repairs.
What happens after your machine is booked in:
1. Your machine will be serviced within a few days. This lead time for completion will be longer if parts are needed to complete your machine service or if extra repairs are required to get your machine running again.
2. Once your machine service is completed, you will be sent an SMS message.
3. You MUST bring your repair docket receipt to collect your machine. This is essential for our team to process your completed repair and is a form of security for us to release your machine.
4. Pay the total of your service charges and any parts needed to complete your service and collect your machine.

Machine Firmware/Software Update All machine manufacturers now have updates available on their websites for the consumer to complete the process with downloadable files and instructions. If you would like us to complete an update on your machine we can complete it for you for a fee. Please advise our staff when booking your machine in. |

All other types of service and repairs are at the discretion of our management and service team.
Completed repairs are held for a maximum of 60 days only unless otherwise arranged with River City Sewing Machine Centre management. River City Sewing Machine Centre reserves the right to recover all outstanding funds relating to repairs made to unclaimed sewing equipment:
These right include but are not limited to
a) selling the unclaimed sewing equipment;
b) engaging collection agents.
New Machine Warranty ( All Brands)
We will honor all warranty work for machines purchased at River City Sewing Machine Centre during the period of your new machine warranty provided:
- You are the first owner of the machine,
- You can provide proof of purchase of your machine
Please note that some parts and consumables are not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty and you should refer to your warranty card that was provided at the time of your new machine purchase. Items and parts required to complete the repair to your machine that are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty will be charged to you and must be paid in full before the machine is released.
Extended Warranty – (where applicable)
Please refer to your warranty documentation for items covered by the manufacturer under their extended warranty if it is applicable to your machine – generally, these include some parts and mechanical items. All repairs conducted under your machines extended warranty will be charged as per our Fix Only Rates, as labour costs are not covered as part of these extended warranty arrangements plus costs of any parts not covered under warranty.
Warranty repairs for machines not purchased at River City Sewing Machine Centre
We would recommend that you return your machine to the place of purchase for the completion of your warranty repair. The dealer where you purchased your machine is responsible for warranty repairs for all machines that they sell.
If you would prefer our store to conduct your warranty repairs, we can do so, however, you will be charged as per our Fix Only Rates plus any additional costs of freight etc for the supply of parts for the completion of your warranty repair plus any parts or items not covered under the warranty terms.
Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd – Warranty Service Centre
Please refer to your warranty documentation for items covered by the manufacturer under their warranty if it is applicable to your machine – generally, these include some parts and mechanical items. All warranty repairs for Brother Machines referred to our store must include proof of purchase information, customers name, address and contact telephone number. This information is a mandatory requirement for Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd to process the warranty claim.
River City Sewing reserves the right to refuse any machine for warranty repairs should this information not be provided.
Warranty repairs are subject to approval by Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd. Any items not covered by the warranty approval will be payable by the machine owner. Any disputes relating to the coverage of warranty for your machine should be directed to Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd.
Onsite Service Requests
Any on-site service requests for any sewing machines, sewing and embroidery machines, multi-needle embroidery machines, quilting machines less than 18″ throat space will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. All onsite service requests will be subject to standard service fees plus parts as required, plus an hourly travelling and on-site fee that is calculated from departure from our store, all time onsite and return to our store.
