Machine Repairs & Service Information
River City Sewing Machine Centre is an Authorised Dealer and Service Centre for the following machine brands:
- PFAFF
- Husqvarna Viking
- Bernina
- Bernette
- Janome

- Baby Lock
- Gammill
- Handi Quilter
- Singer
Pre-book your machine in for a routine service so that you can get on with your sewing while you are waiting for your service time slot. Get your machine back with a faster turnaround and get sewing again.
Service timeslots become available only 9 weeks in advance due to the heavy demand for servicing. These appear automatically on the booking page each few days, so please keep checking for service timeslots to become available.
Please note that this pre-booking is not a same-day service.
If you have multiple machines you will need to select one “ticket” for each machine. There are limited tickets each day for these pre-bookings so select a day where you can book all of your machines in at the same time.
What do you need to do to book:
- Select a date and your machine type from those available on our booking page. There are limited spaces each day. Please select the correct machine type when booking.
- If you have multiple machines you will need to select one “ticket” for each machine.
- Confirm your selected machine appointment and provide us with your details, contact telephone number, email address, details of your machine/s and any issues that you may have that you would like to highlight to our technician.
- Keep a copy of your email confirmation to bring with you on the day of your booking.
- You will be sent an email confirmation and a reminder of your booking a day or so before your machine is due to be dropped off.
What happens on the booking day:
On the day that you have selected, bring your machine after 10am with your email confirmation.
Please bring only the following items with your machine for its service:
Sewing Machines:
- Power Cord & Foot Control
- 1 x Bobbin filled with sewing thread
- Regular Sewing Thread on the machine
- Regular Sewing Foot (Zig Zag Foot)
- Bobbin filled with sewing thread
Embroidery machine services will require these additional items:
- Your machine's embroidery unit
- 1 small hoop
- 1 x bobbin filled with bobbinfil
- Embroidery Foot
- Embroidery Bobbin case if supplied with your machine
Overlockers or Coverstitch machines:
- 4 threads for overlockers
- 5 threads for coverstitchers
- Standard sewing foot
- Power cord and foot control.
Please leave all other machine accessories at home as they are not required
Our team will enter your machine into our in-store repair system. This takes approximately 10 minutes per machine as we log all items received with your machine into the repair information.
Once all items are booked in, you will be provided with a repair docket detailing the items that you have included with your machine for service.
This repair docket MUST be returned to us for processing when you collect your machine and pay for your repairs. So please keep this in a safe place and remember to bring it back with you to collect your machine.
What happens after your machine is booked in:
Your machine will be serviced within a few days. This lead time for completion will be longer if parts are needed to complete your machine service or if extra repairs are required to get your machine running again.
All service fees exclude parts. If parts are required up to the value of $40, they will be fitted and added to your service charge without contacting you. If parts are required over the value of $40, our technician will contact you for approval before proceeding with your repair. Once approved, these will be added to your service charge.
Once your machine service is completed, you will be sent an SMS message.
Remember to bring your repair docket when collecting your machine. This is essential for our team to process your completed repair and process your payment. It is also a form of security for us to release your machine back to you.

Completed repairs are held for a maximum of 60 days only unless otherwise arranged with River City Sewing Machine Centre management. River City Sewing Machine Centre reserves the right to recover all outstanding funds relating to repairs made to unclaimed sewing equipment:
These right include but are not limited to a) selling the unclaimed sewing equipment;
b) engaging collection agents.
New Machine Warranty (All Brands)
We will honor all warranty work for machines purchased at River City Sewing Machine Centre during the period of your new machine warranty provided:
- You are the first owner of the machine,
- You can provide proof of purchase of your machine
Please note that some parts and consumables are not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty and you should refer to your warranty card that was provided at the time of your new machine purchase. Items and parts required to complete the repair to your machine that are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty will be charged to you and must be paid in full before the machine is released.
Extended Warranty – (where applicable)
Please refer to your warranty documentation for items covered by the manufacturer under their extended warranty if it is applicable to your machine – generally, these include some parts and mechanical items. All repairs conducted under your machines extended warranty will be charged as per our Fix Only Rates, as labour costs are not covered as part of these extended warranty arrangements plus costs of any parts not covered under warranty.
Warranty repairs for machines not purchased at River City Sewing Machine Centre
Your machine needs to be returned to the place of purchase for the completion of your warranty repair.
The dealer where you purchased your machine is responsible for the parts and labour warranty for machines that they sell as part of their dealer agreement with the Machine companies. This requirement is part of the sale of a new machine and is included in their margin.
Your machine warranty information details a parts and labour warranty for your machine. This varies from Brand to brand and machine type and can be from 3 months up to 2 years from the purchase date. You will need to check your machine's warranty card/information for details relating to your machine.
We charge an hourly rate plus freight charges on the supply of parts to complete all parts and labour warranty repairs for all machines not purchased at our store.
These charges are detailed above.
A copy of your proof of purchase must be supplied with all warranty repairs.
Supply of parts under warranty is at the discretion of the manufacturer.
Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd – Warranty Service Centre
Please refer to your warranty documentation for items covered by the manufacturer under their warranty if it is applicable to your machine – generally, these include some parts and mechanical items. All warranty repairs for Brother Machines referred to our store must include proof of purchase information, customers name, address and contact telephone number. This information is a mandatory requirement for Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd to process the warranty claim.
River City Sewing reserves the right to refuse any machine for warranty repairs should this information not be provided.
Warranty repairs are subject to approval by Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd. Any items not covered by the warranty approval will be payable by the machine owner. Any disputes relating to the coverage of warranty for your machine should be directed to Brother International (Australia) Pty Ltd.
Onsite Service Requests
Any on-site service requests for any sewing machines, sewing and embroidery machines, multi-needle embroidery machines, quilting machines less than 18″ throat space will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. All onsite service requests will be subject to additional service fees plus parts as required, plus an hourly travelling and on-site fee that is calculated from departure from our store, all time onsite and return to our store.
